Dear Friends,

Welcome to our personal blog site where we share updates, highlight voices, and curate resources for reflection. The borderless love of God compels us into a new chapter. Our family received an unexpected invitation from Abara Borderland Connections to relocate to the US—Mexico Border to cultivate opportunities for understanding, serving, and loving across divides through education, encounters, and response. This work includes partnering with leaders and pastors and forging meaningful engagement on the border, on the block, and closer to home.

We understand that there are many views about the border, and that this kind of work can trigger emotional perspectives. This is why we’re so grateful to join with others who stand in the gap. In the words of Rev. Dr. Munther Issac, we encounter “Christ at the checkpoint.” As local listeners, we trust that Jesus of Nazareth came to destroy what St. Paul described as “the dividing wall of hostility” (Eph 2) in order to form one new family as good news for today.

We want to pay attention to the narratives, voices, and perspectives of our neighbors who know the realities of daily life in El Paso, TX – Juarez, MX. We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us. We trust that God will do more than all we ask or imagine and, as Ezekiel cried out from the desert, “Life will flourish wherever this water flows.”

Sending Love,
Nate & Melissa
